Aviva Jifei Xue is a clothing label based in New York which draws inspiration from the designer’s heritage, growing up between Japan and China. The eponymous brand was launched in 2020 after Aviva graduated from Parsons in 2017 with a degree in fashion design focusing on menswear. Natural fibers such as hemp, wool, linen, and silk are used for fabric, which is then dyed naturally, and is often adorned with ceramic buttons as a means of honoring materiality and heritage. Placing an emphasis on craft and old world production techniques, the collection makes use of expertly sourced antique fabrics, as well as custom made fabrics from specialized and generational-owned mills across Japan.
